Twitter employees have demands for Elon Musk

Twitter employees prepared an open letter with their request for Elon Musk, who bought the social media platform on Friday. In the draft letter reviewed Time Magazineemployees have a list of demands for the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

Alongside the requests, employees also wanted to express their thoughts on plans to lay off 75% of staff. The letter described these plans as “reckless” and said it was a “transparent act of worker intimidation”.

According to the open letter, the employees who signed said they would not intimidate Elon Musk, and that both Twitter and Elon Musk should “stop these negligent firing threats.”

In the open letter, employees list “demands for current and future leadership.” Twitter employees listed the four requests and what they mean to them.

“Hear respect: We demand that leaders respect the platform and the workers who maintain it, committing to maintaining the current headcount.”

“Safety: We demand that leaders not discriminate against workers based on their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation or political beliefs. We also demand security for workers on a visa who, if they are laid off, will have to leave the country where they work.”

“Protection: We demand that Elon Musk expressly commit to protecting our benefits, both listed in the merger agreement and those that are not (for example, remote working). We seek leadership to establish and ensure fair severance policies for all employees before and after any change in ownership.”

“Reputation: We demand transparent, prompt and thoughtful communication about our working conditions. We demand to be treated with dignity and not be seen as pawns in a game played by billionaires.”

It seems that the same is not true for the employees themselves. During Elon Musk’s inauguration Saturday night live He told the world he had Asperger’s, a form of autism.

In May, it was noted that a senior Twitter executive mocked Elon Musk for having Asperger’s. “He has Asperger’s, so he’s special – you’re special needs. You’re literally special needs,” said the executive, who is described as Twitter’s lead client partner Alex Martinez.
